The existence of one or more gods in the world has been suspected as the source of divine energy by members of all races since the beginnings of history. In early history it was suspected that all magical forces emanated from gods, but in -6234 it was shown by a Mimm sorcerer that magic emanated from the soul of the user and not from any outside source.
Divine energy continues to be attributed to a variety of gods however, and each of the races have their own god(s) that the wielders of divine energy attribute their power to.
Divine energy, like magical energy, can only be used by those of the small size category or smaller. The Distribution of Strength Theory attempts to explain this by stating in essence that a being exists in four worlds at once and that most sentient beings are the same size. Those who appear smaller in the physical world are larger in either the magical energy realm, divine energy realm where the gods exist, or realm of intellect where the mind exists. Some larger beasts exhibit a natural ability to use magic, to which proponents of The Distribution of Strength Theory simply say that the beast is much smaller in the realm of intellect.
The Distribution of Strength Theory holds that divine power functions in that the divine part of the being exists in the realm with gods, and if it’s large enough can ask favors from the gods that live there which can be channeled through the being’s other areas including the being’s existence in the physical realm.
Even by those without direct and solid access to divine energy find that seeking the protection or aid of a god through prayer or the support of his other followers can be effective.
